As the Volkswagen case is showing, software can hardly be trusted.
You can do pretty much anything with software.
So this isn't a Volkswagen thing. It's much more vast than that. And remember we are putting software intelligence everywhere in our lives, even for closing doors and turning wheels...
The morale of the story is that software belongs to regular computers and you should refuse the use of software anywhere else. For anything in your control, do not purchase such thing. "Intelligent objects" = BIG NO.
And limit third parties and intermediaries for everything you do online.
