Microsoft screwed by Google after screwing everyone out there

So Microsoft is complaining that Google isn't letting them publish a Youtube app on the Windows phone platform.

The technical details don't matter because the Terms of service provide enough room to justify anything.

But talk about an irony that Microsoft can't get the Google pass.

It actually reflects a lot on the Apple app store precedent, which is that a vendor decides the fate of software vendors out there by allowing or not allowing their apps to be published on the only store that makes it possible to download the app in question.

So Microsoft is being treated the way it treats us developers. Microsoft is being reminded that anyone willing to publish an app on Windows app store must obtain Microsoft blessing, and that is not justifiable by any way shape or form.

We come from days where software vendors were able to start distributing their software from their own websites, run a business, perhaps start building a team and so on. Microsoft's Apple way of thinking of software is supposed to be distributed in the new "modern" world just comes to bite back them.

I hope it teaches them a lesson. And I hope we will see a mechanism for letting software be distributed by vendors' websites.

(It has to be noted that the justification for having a central Microsoft store as the sole mechanism for distributing someone's software is completely flawed. When asked, the claims are based on security for (final) users, but it can't be so because today there is a whole market of security related software that make it safe to download and install software from an unknown source).
